Careers at Stratagem Law Group start from a simple premise: lawyers and legal professionals do their best work when they understand the business in front of them. We are a Washington business law firm led by an attorney who spent twenty years running organizations before he practiced law, and we hire people who want to work that way.
The Firm
What Careers at Stratagem Law Group Look Like
Stratagem Law Group is a small firm by design. Today it is a managing attorney, a director of legal operations, and the outside professionals we bring in for tax and accounting questions. That size is a feature, not a stage we are passing through. Every person here works directly with clients, sees matters from intake to resolution, and has a say in how the firm runs.
At the same time, the work itself is not small. We advise owners, executives, boards, healthcare providers, and nonprofits across Washington. We try cases and argue appeals. Moreover, we take on regulators and national payers when a client’s business depends on it. The firm’s positioning is business law first, with healthcare regulatory depth as the differentiator, so a career here is a business-law career with a specialty most firms cannot offer.

Why Here
Why People Build Careers at Stratagem Law Group
Our About page describes the firm as personable, detail-oriented, and fearless. Here is what that means for the people who work here.
An Operator’s Perspective
Our managing attorney carried profit-and-loss responsibility and answered to boards and regulators for two decades before law school. Consequently, you will learn to give advice that starts with the client’s goals and ends with a decision, not a list of risks.
Real Work, Early
In a firm this size there is no document-review purgatory. Attorneys draft, argue, and counsel clients from the start. Paralegals and legal assistants run matters, not just files. Clerks research questions that end up in briefs.
Breadth With Depth
Business law, litigation, corporate compliance, healthcare regulatory work, payer disputes, and nonprofit governance rarely stay in their lanes here. For example, a partner dispute at a medical group is a corporate, regulatory, and litigation problem at once, and you will see all of it. Because we advise clients comprehensively, the work rarely repeats.
Trial and Appellate Work
We prepare every matter as though it may go to court, and some do. The firm’s record includes a published Court of Appeals decision and a judgment invalidating a state agency rule. See our Significant Cases.
Modern Tools, Human Judgment
We run on cloud practice management, Lexis+ AI, and AI-assisted drafting and research. We expect you to learn these tools and to verify everything they produce. In short, the technology handles the volume; you own the judgment.
A Place Worth Living
Our office is in Port Orchard on the Kitsap Peninsula, a ferry ride from Seattle, with water and mountains in every direction. Because our clients are across Washington, the practice reaches far beyond the peninsula. You get a statewide docket and a small-town commute.

Roles We Hire For
We hire for the five roles below as the practice grows. Each page describes the role as it exists at Stratagem Law Group, what it requires, and how to express interest. We are also open to attorneys who could build a new practice area with us. In other words, our current practice list is a starting point, not a limit.
Attorney
Associates and lateral attorneys who advise clients comprehensively, wherever business takes them. We also welcome adjacent practices, team builders, and lawyers who want to learn litigation.
Of Counsel / Contract Attorney
Experienced Washington attorneys with a complementary practice or portable business who want an affiliation rather than an associate role.
Paralegal
Litigation and transactional paralegals who can run a matter from intake through trial preparation, with the systems to match.
Legal Assistant
The organized, client-facing professional who keeps intake, calendars, documents, and billing moving.
Law Clerk / Summer Associate
Law students and recent graduates who want substantive research, writing, and courtroom exposure under direct supervision.
Process
How We Hire
Ongoing Consideration
The roles described on this site are positions Stratagem Law Group hires for from time to time. These pages are not announcements of a specific available position, and they are not job postings. We accept and review expressions of interest on an ongoing basis, whether or not we have an opening at the moment you write, and we keep strong candidates in mind as the firm grows. When we recruit for a specific open position, we say so and provide the details that apply to it.
To express interest in any role, email your resume and a cover letter to info@stratagemlawgroup.com with the role in the subject line. Tell us which role interests you, why this firm, and what you would bring to it. Attorneys and law clerks should also include a writing sample. We read every submission. If there is a fit, we will reach out to arrange a conversation; if not now, we may contact you later.
We do not ask for salary history, and we do not screen resumes by software. A person reads what you send, and we discuss compensation and benefits directly with each candidate, in light of experience, practice area, and, for attorneys, portable business.
Stratagem Law Group is an equal opportunity employer. We make hiring decisions on the basis of qualifications, experience, and fit for the work, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, veteran or military status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
